FROM THE LANDLORD What a feast it has been since I last put finger to keyboard. The cricket 20-20 was FANTASTIC. It makes 50 over cricket look boring and predictable. The final where India beat Pakistan by 5 runs was fabulous stuff to the end. The there was the F1 scandal where it was finally shown that some drivers have the morals of bargirls – no that is an insult to the denizens of Soi Bangla. But the RUGBY! How wonderful to see the Argies vie with the Taffies, and the Ities with the Sweaties. Now it’s the real stuff. Tomorrow at 8 p.m. the Rugby World Cup Champions have a chance to spank the Ozzies yet again, this time without the burden of being favourites, and then it’s the Frogs against the Kiwis – pity for the Frogs it’s at Cardiff. Be here to see it all with me. On Sunday at 10 p.m. I think the Boks will not have too much trouble with Fiji, but everyone else will be looking to see what injuries they pick-up. Then at 2 p.m. The Argies will come up against the Tartan Warriors. It should be a mighty contest. I would not bet the shop on Scotland. The Shanghai GP will be a real humdinger and St. Lewis Hamilton could wrap up the 2007 drivers’ title. There is after all no Constructor’s Title this year worth talking about after Alonso had a very un-British spat at the Hungarian Grand Prix in August over his status in the team. Alonso in a minority opinion thought he should take precedence over a better driver, and launching his dummy into orbit threatened to reveal incriminating e-mail evidence about McLaren's involvement in the spy row to scupper McLaren. What chance he will drive for Renault next year and Ferrari the year after to collect his pieces of silver? But this year we can all gloat over the last socially timed GP of the year over Sunday Lunch (1 p.m.). In an effort to bring you more "Drama at the Green Man" will the Rawai Players are now rehearsing Tom Stoppard's 'Enter a Free Man'. There are regular rehearsals on Thursdays from 7pm until 9.30 pm. If anyone else, particularly ladies would be interested in taking part please call Tony Kelsey-Stead t_kelsey_stead@hotmail.com or call him on 0857903652. We would also like to hear from you if you are interested in taking part in this year’s Panto. The pub has been humming the last few days, with old friends returning from overseas, and great musical moments. Anyone who did not try my Fast Gin on my birthday last Thursday should try to see me while the going is good. Rave Reviews! Of course it won’t be quite the same without the chance to ogle Claire’s assets at the same time, but that’s the penalty of coming late. No-one got my Landlord’s Question which was: “4th October is Howard’s birthday and of course the birthday of many other people in History. Can you identify the following four with the same birthday The first was born in Huntingdon on 4 October 1626, became Lord Protector of England and remains the longest lived ruler in history of England or the United Kingdom. The second was born John Charles Carter in Evanston, Illinois October 4, 1924 was an actor known for heroic roles. He was also very political, campaigned for Presidential candidates Adlai Stevenson in 1956 and John F. Kennedy in 1960. A civil rights activist, he accompanied Martin Luther King Jr. during the civil rights march held in Washington, D.C. in 1963. Following the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, together with fellow actors he called for public support for President Johnson's Gun Control Act of 1968. The third was a long-running comic strip hero who made his debut appearance on October 4, 1931 as a hard-hitting, fast-shooting, and supremely intelligent detective who matched wits with a variety of villains. The strip was famous for atomic-powered gadgets and devices including the Space Coupe, a spacecraft with a magnetic propulsion system which in 1964 took our hero to adventures on the Moon where he met Moon Maid, the daughter of the leader of a race of humanoid people living in "Moon Valley". After sharing technological information, Moon technology becoming standard issue on the police force, including air cars, flying cylindrical vehicles. The Fourth, born October 4, 1822 was an American politician, lawyer, and military leader: a Brigadier General in October 1864 and brevetted Major General. He was wounded many times and had four horses shot from under him during his campaigning. He became the nineteenth President of the United States” Cheers, Howard
